My favorite part:
cybersquatters
"taste" and "kite" domain names in order to test their profitability.
According to a recent industry report, there are over 1 million kited sites
re-registered daily, collectively bringing in $100-125 million in annual
revenue for criminals

Somebody punch this person in the mouth please! lol

I think the writer is envious of the domainers in general, not just the cybersquatters. Haha

I don't understand why people think that tasting is wrong/illegal/immoral/whatever. If it's built into the system and Verisign allows it, shouldn't the complainer's efforts be directed towards having Verisign change their policy? You can't blame the domainer for wanting to make a buck.

Also, these same people need to understand the difference between tasting and kiting. I see those two used interchangeably too often.

I totally agree. These reporters are totally ignorant of the difference in tasting and kiting. I read a report recently that Icann really does not see kiting as that big of a problem. The fact is that when domains come up on the radar to be tasted several of the tasters out there take their crack at it making it look like it is re-registed over and over.

If any tasters are going to be at the TRAFFIC show in Miami, let me know so we can hook up.
