It appears at 4AM this morning I was hacked.

What seems odd to me is my web host's website has the same hacked lander as well.

One of my hacked sites: www.buffononline.com
Host: www.foundrynap.com

Now if I have a dedicated server, shouldn't one or the other be hacked? Why are both?

And more odd, www.themacforum.net is on the server, and working.

*Confused, a bit baffled and a bit mad*

Lastly, why do people hack sites?

It happens to all of us, just try and get the site back running correctly, its all you can do...

I HATE HACKERS!!!

Between Invision Board, HiveMail, News CMS, custom CMS and Online Store Script, I don't know where to start or how.

Shouldn't this be the responsibility of the server admin to KEEP HACKERS OUT as well as fix the damage when they get in (ASAP)?

Before going to your link is there a virus on the hacked site?

If you want, I can take a look at the IPB, if all the files are still there, I can attempt to get it back up for you.

Though if the files are deleted, I dont have the modified files, so I dont know.

I don't think so, lol.

Thanks but there is one upside!

On Sept 1, I moved servers, so my old server still has a backup of everything (updated until sept1). So that is a huge relief, however i want this up and fixed ASAP. This should be the admin's job and it's not being done. That's over 15 hours now that it's been hacked with that lander.

my host updated everything after I was hacked, they basically re-installed the forum for me, which was a nice treat...

Please, don't stereotype all hackers. All hackers aren't bad. Do you have any proof that he hacked the site?

The admin is working on it but, what would you call it?!

A new design?

lets not jump to conclusions

Am I missing something? lol

How am I jumping to conclusions. They have all this hackor lingo and there is a link back to some Brazillian hacking group (group4.com.br i think it is).

Oh I forgot, these people like to call themselves "security groups".

About reinstall your forum, I don't want a reinstall! There are a lot of posts there. I want it fixed back to normal.

My forum was re-installed and then the database from the old forum was transfered so the new one worked perfectly...

if you can get your database downloaded from you hacked forum the rest is pretty easy...

The database is probably still intact.

I have custom hacks as well (thanks Abusive for that :-) )

Anyways, it wasn't my server actually. The host had some routing technology that all domains park on and get sent from that server to their own dedicated servers. It was this routing server that was hacked. So nothing seems to be lost :-)

I don't get why this happens in the first place. If they really want to let admins know about the holes, why not email them? Instead someone's work and times and money is defaced.

LOL

could of been worse, i was hack awhile back, hacker tried to install IRC through my site which caused the server to keep crashing, my host disabled my account and made me pay to have my account back :( no i got my own server and pay a server admin to look after the security and that, i also backup my sites every 24 hours to my 2nd hd now
