Why bother feeding this guy? Also it seems like you are just antagonizing him. Do you want him to hack this site?

Alsp why hasn't DNJ at least removed the defacement? I would think that's the first thing to do.

Agree, there is no point of talking with him. Take action right away, update the site then review the logs. Yes it will take some time.

Then approach yahoo to check his IM logs, if you can get that information.

Well good luck,
EM

I think If he really is from iran and is 16 years old, then there is nothing You can really do against him - or can You?

It's really sad that this happened on Ron's birthday... :-(

I really hope that Ron can get the site back up ASAP. The media must be watching too, I've seen DNJournal mentioned in the FT many times...

Yes, it is out of jurisdiction. And we are not sure if there is any cyber law implemented in Iran. Just in case, the FBI will only forward this information to them.

I'm 14 yrs old and live in Nigeria.

The point being that "we" don't know anything about the hacker.
And, he can mislead us anyway he wants, at this moment.

The hacker really could be 33 yrs old living in Atlanta.
"We" just don't know, at this moment.

Dnjournal log files will at least initiate to see where he is connected. According to this guy, he used proxies servers. This will take some time and money to find out.

Looks like Duke has not logged into dnf in at least 2-days, which would account for not responding yet.

Ron is in Philadelphia, getting his daughter settled-in for her freshman year at Penn. He's not due back in Tampa until the weekend.

As timing would have it, his cell phone number -- along with everyone else's numbers -- got wiped out of my desktop telephone system when we lost power in Miami during Hurricane Katrina. If anyone else has his cell, this would be a good time to reach out to Ron.

On a more ominous note, Sid Parfait (Domainut, Dropwatch.com) has likely been wiped-out by Katrina. His home in Slidell, Louisiana was hit by the eye-wall of the storm, which reportedly breached the levy and sent Lake Pontchartrain pouring into Slidell.

I spoke to Sid as he was preparing to evacuate, but he got a very late start may not have gotten far, with highway traffic in all directions at a virtual standstill. He had assured me that he would call me when he reached safe haven. He's not been online since then, nor have I heard from him, nor have I been able to reach him on either his or his wife's cell phone. At best, he's crammed into his Expedition in who-knows-where, with his wife, four kids, two great danes and his computers. At worst, well, I'm plenty scared.

Although unlikely, should anyone happen to hear from him, PLEASE contact me immediately. In the mean time, prayers would be helpful and appropriate.

We're praying for his safety.

Please keep us posted.

I know Ron is rarely away so am wondering if perhaps the hacker somehow knew he would be gone this week?

Does Ron travel with a laptop? It seems he would so he can still publish when gone since he is so truly dedicated to his Tues publication deadline.

Duke, definitely let me know if there is anything that I can do to help you out.

Domainut, please do the same, our prayers are with you my man.

Using FrontPage has no bearing on his HTML skills. One of the top SEO professionals in the world uses FrontPage on his personal site. I don't understand why people would tempt this person into attacking other sites....

I doubt the person knew that Ron would be out of town this week.

Yes, Ron has his laptop with him. I'm surprised we haven't heard from him
last night/today.

He was planning on doing his report tonight.

I am scheduled to be with him on friday.

"Gee, I wonder what we will take about?"

Interesting that Sedo got hit with a DDOS attack, now DNJournal and the threat of more to follow ... wonder what that's about?

wow - he hit NP also
frontpage or not, this guy must have some skills since NP have also been taking precautions yet still got knocked off by this kid.
