Hello,

This might be a bit of a newbie question. I own about 40-50 domain names as a hobby, and have had some people ask me to locate and acquire domain names for their business. These are people who are not domain-name savvy and don't mind paying a little extra to have someone do the relatively easy task for them. So I guess my question is...is there a way to register a domain on say GoDaddy, and have the client listed as the owner....without having to setup an account for them and have them buy it themselves...in which case they would see the price for the domain and not be inclined to pay for my "services"? Hope that makes sense. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, simply list the client or their company as the owner, with their contact info, and you can put your info in as the administrative/ billing contact. This can be done from your own account. If the client checks the whois, they will see the domain in their name.

Register the domain name as per usual with your details. Then go
to "Domain Manager" and click on the domain you have purchased
then EDIT the REGISTRANT details to your clients details. I would leave
the details of admin, tech and billing as yours then you can charge
them for the renewals etc and you have control. Simple eh ,
and whats that saying, oh yeh "money for old rope" .
