ok..this is my first time selling a domain name.

i registered my domain with enom, now I want to sell it, how is the selling process usually done?

I was thinking, simply give the seller my password and he can change the registration details after the payment,

but he wants me to give him the password before he make the payment. so who should go first? or is there a better way to handle this?

thanks all.

NO...... don't give him your password.

You can just "push" the name to a separate account for him.

I will be back in just a minute to tell you how - I have a couple urgent messages to answer.

Someone else might tell you by the time I get back.

I know how to push the name into an account, does this mean that i still have control over the name?

Thanks.

I'm back. :)

No... once you push to him - it's his name and he has all control.

Do you know him? A friend? Or a complete stranger?

Well yes and no.... if you give him your password - he will have access to your account and all your domains and contact information - settings - etc.

So yes you are making the first move - but no it's not the same as giving him your account password. If you push the name to a Free account that he can sign up for - the worst that can happen is he steals that one name. But if you give him your account password - he will have access to your account and all your names.

I hope that made sense. I'm typing really fast. :)

Maybe you are talking about just giving him a "limited access password" and not your account password?

im talking about giving him password just for the domain itself, (which i've changed from my everyday password), so all he have access to is just the 'one' domains information.

so i guess i have to make the first move.

Thanks for your help.

OK yes... you mean the "limited access password" feature - for just that one domain.

I just wanted to make sure that you were protected. :)

Thanks NamePopper

I have similar question! Say one of my customer who registered a domain from my RR link, in this case, can he just pass his password for that domain to his client once he sold the domain to him.

Or another question, can my customer paid me say in cash (he registered it via RR link) then I use the "add year " function to add the number of years he required? I am afraid that once I add years. Then his password will lost function!

I have similar problems when I transfer my domain (registered from a guy using RR link to my account (reseller account). Then my domain become only accessed by the account password. I lost my domain password!

Please advise me, Namepopper!

Regards

Don't ever give your merchandize first before payment ;)
Remember .. you can always fall back to use an escrow
company if you have to. Don't put yourself at a disadvantage. :)

Unless you trust that person, then again if u guys trust
each other he would pay first  .. doh .. nevermind.

goodluck,
