Isn't context relevant? "Apple" is a famous trademark, but if it's used in the context of fruit it's generic.

Yes, context is important.

"Apple" by itself is not a distinctive mark.

ROFL God this thread was a long time ago, i'm pretty much out of the domain business now but it made me laugh reading this post :D

Why did you get out of the business?

1. Did you make your millions and move on to greener pastures?

OR

2. Did your Mum cut you off from using her credit card for any more domain registrations?

I appreciate that your mood and demeanor have not changed and I hope you are doing well despite your inability to be cordial following a disagreement that happened such a long time ago.
Why did I get out of the business? I actually decided to give up the domain business to start another company. I am now in greener pastures and am very happy running the three companies that I now co-own.
As for my "mum cutting me off from using her credit card" that's a little immature don't you think? It's amazing to me that you would even say something like that but you have every right to voice your opinion.
Good luck to you in your business ventures.
