So, I let one of my domain names expire by accident. It seems that its still locked in the register, but how long do I have until I can re-register the name? Or perhaps it is possible to renew it with its current register?

Not really a great name, just a personal one. Anyone know how I can quickly get it back?

Thanks

For what I know:

Check the status in the whois.

if it is REGISTRAR HOLD

then you should be able to renew it at standrd fee without any problem, just contact the registrar.

if it is REDEMPTION PERIOD
then you can still get bcak the name contacting the registrar but I am afraid you will have to pay a bitter fee ($150 or so).

if it is PENDING DELETE
then you lost it and the only option you have is to catch it again when it will drop (it will very soon that is 6 days after the "update date").
If the domain is of interest for you only you should be able to register it after drop witout problems and at reg fee but if other/s might be interested in it then you willhave to " fight ".

Good Luck,

Agreed.

Also put a snap on it now - also Godaddy.com back order and enom if you are a member.

If you want/need the name badly, and it is in redemption period, pay your $90 to $300 to redeem it, if you can.

If someone else catches it when it drops, there is no telling how much they will ask for it.

These days, even garbage names get a snap, bid or backorder on. So unless it is something like firstname-nickname-lastname.com, don't take it for granted that others will not be interested. My advice is to renew it instead of trying to re-register it upon dropping.

Most registrars usually have some 30 days grace period of their own (Status: ACTIVE) before letting a domain going into ICANN's official Redemption Grace Period (Status: REDEMPTIONPERIOD). Contact them ASAP to renew it. You may need to pay (as some fellow members mentioned) higher fees during RGP; but when compare to a worse scenario in which your domain ends up in another domainer, that couple of hundred is already your best deal.

Hey guys, I checked the WHOIS. It says this:
This name has EXPIRED, the former whois information is.....

Seems that I can't login to the name to renew it. Is it still possible to get it back or will I have to wait?

send a support ticket and ask the registrar

Did so, awaiting....thanks

Sorry but I think it is too late to renew it.

Check if it has a snap on it - if not - then snap it.
Same for Godaddy - also enom if you can.
