I am hosted at 1and1.com
I use yahoo to register domains & just started playing with idn, but my host only allows these chars?
ä ö ü á Ã* â ã ä Ã¥ æ ç è é ê ì Ã* î ï ð ñ ò ó ô õ ö ø ù ú û ü ý þ ÿ

does anyone know a cheap low cost virtual account to host idn that are not the above char's? Or if yahoo will allow pointing of idn with masking & show native char in browser?

Not quite sure that I understand your question exactly. I would suggest you do what most IDNers do which is register at domainsite.com and park at namedrive.com. We use a variety of different hosting companies but one I use most is dreamhost.com. If you use the promo code "moramora" you can save 50% of the cost of a year's host, making it very affordable. You can host unlimited domains there. The only problem is managing the domains because right now you have to manage them in punycode not unicode.

I may be off base, but can't you host anywhere? If you just use the punycode every host should understand it.

Yes - you can host anywhere. IDNers are currently hunting for a host with unlimited domain hosting and unicode support.

Any followup on this? Does anyone know a domain host with UNICODE SUPPORT and UNLIMITED DOMAIN HOSTING? If they did, they would get some of my business.

You want unicode support for full URLs?

Dreamhost works fine for idns, but I don't think full URL paths are fully unicode...

They have unlimted domain hosting also. They're pretty good, they get blasted sometimes for outages, but so far I'm pretty happy...

What about GoDaddy servers and hosting?

Anyone try those with unicode/IDN?

Yeah, I already use dreamhost and though they don't support unicode they are fine. it is just too much of a pain to manage everything in punycode.

Basically, I am looking for a different ip address to host more domains i have so I don't think that signing up for a second dreamhost account solves my problem. Unless someone can tell me that there is a way I can guarantee a different IP address from a second account at dreamhost. ????

I'd be shocked if GoDaddy supported unicode. Didn't they just start supporting some limited IDN registrations? They are way late to the ballgame.
