Domain has been offline long time before I bought it. I have extreme tracker installed and all hits seem te be real. There is ip information, browser, os ... However nobody is ever clicking any links.

Iam puzzled.

how long have you been putting up the site? No Alexa ranking means either your web site is new or not many people visit your site.

They could have close their browser on the main page if there's nothing interesting for them?

Check if the IP addressess are open proxies.

Doesn't seem to be much of a mystery. The site name is ArtBookMark? Assuming this means that people are looking for links to Art or Graphics sites, and you have a page full of domain name stuff... Nothing surprising about that. Put some art links there and see what you get...

If I came here to Domain Name Forum and found Art links, I wouldn't click on anything either!!

No archive.org pages on that site to figure out what was selling before. I see it was registered a year ago. I hope the previous owner buying traffic to boost the numbers during and after the sale. (I suspect that I've purchased domains where that has happened to me.)

Hi Anton,

Answer to your mystery: That domain is linked to from a couple of porn / TGP sites. These are sites where people are looking for nude pics and such.

I would venture to guess that the previous owner was using that "art" bookmark domain as a TGP gallery.

This would make sense because some tracking programs will count an image request as a "visit" --even though the image was linked to from another site. Therefore, the visitor never really came to your site; they just loaded an image (usually among hundreds of others) that no longer exists on your domain.

Cheers,

-Wesley

it's also possible they really are visiting your site from the other galleries but find no porn and leave :-/

-Wesley

p.s. I didn't really spend a lot of time researching, so it's possible those sites do not really link to yours (i.e. phantom links) --in which case I don't know where the visitors are coming from ;)

Thank you guys. You are really helping me out.

It seems that the previous owner distributed a program that takes over the startup page of IE. That's why 99.9% of the visitors use a combination of any version of IE and Windows.

Best is to put some porn on the site, I guess.
