What domain is it? It may be worth more then $1000... and be patient. If you look too eager they'll know your just itchin to sell.

ok, well if its making any revenue I'd be after 18 months revenue, and probably settle for 12-15. If its not making any revenue, then counter with the $1000 and see what happens, worse come to worse you got $500 for a site not making a profit.

If it was me with this domain, i would counter offer $800
And then sell to it's new offer that should be $600-$700

its not always about revenue.. I have sold domains at $2000+ without out a single click and 5 visitors a month.

Sometimes people just want the name for other reasons

yes I agree, but in my opinion his domain wasn't a domain that would warrant that high an offer without some traffic. I own a couple domains like livepoker.us and cyberpoker.us that receive practically no traffic, but I also know I'm not letting them go for cheap.

IMO, this particular domain didn't have that quality.

That is very true. I have a domain with hardly any typeins and have refused high $$$$ offers for it.

I guess price is in the eye of the beholder.. I am not partial to .us domains, and would therefore rate happily pass your domains by at reg price.

But who is to say I am right. I had a really crappy domain that I accidently put $1500 instead of $150 and to my suprise the domain sold, I even thought $150 was too much.

None of us are ever right or wrong when pricing domains, thats what I love about it. You could potentially be sitting on a 6 figure domain and not even know it..

Some crazy marketing team decides your domain is there next killer app.. and bang you are laughing all the way to the bank

Yeah it's good to shoot big, I owned the domain winrealbig.com and got an offer from a national credit card company and they briskly said in a little short email from a hotmail account that they could go as far as $300 on my name, of course I countered with $2500 and settled for $1250 and got the paypal payment that day, funny thing happened about a year later they let it expire and I caught it with godaddy of all places and then just resold it in an auction on ebay for a total of $2500! You always have to expect a haggle even if you don't want to do so, they always expect you to ask alot more than what you will actually take and they will offer accordingly..I call it the domain chess game...lol ...cat and mouse all the way...you have no idea who is on the other end of that email and whether or not price is even an actual concern, when someone really needs a name - THEY REALLY NEED IT or they wouldnt be talking to you about buying it! k:

Five years ago I sold a domain for $2,250 - my second domain sale ever - and the buyer never used it. Eventually, he let it expire and the domain is currently available. There is also a Swedish company that owns the .se - I am being tempted to re-register it :-D

Patience - is part of the game. He may be reflecting, working on financing.... as has been mentioned, you never know who the true end buyer/user is in many transactions. I believe SEDO counter-offers are standing for 7 days (I have one in counter-offer right now... 4 days left)
