I've been reading the MSDN blogs, and from what I can tell, IE7 will have built-in support for IDNs, such as .us.com, .de.com, .eu.com, et al. This means that if you're in the USA, .us.com will have a higher preference in the browser. At least that is what I can decipher from the technobabble.

I went on to look for good IDN registrars, and the best one so far is CentralNIC.

With all the scandal surrounding AfterNIC, I wouldn't trust them anymore. Apparently, some one got scammed out of $60,000 US!

There are some common sense you need to work on first.
1. .us.com .de.com is not IDN. They are even not official ccTLDs. They are just sub domains. You can visit these sites right now using IE5. %uFFFD*%u6587.com is what we call IDN.
2. After all, afternic is among the most reputable domain markets in the world. But it is not a place to register domains, but to buy and sell domains. The most reliable registrars for domainers are enom, namecheap, godaddy, moniker, domainsite etc.
3. Yes, if you are looking for .us.com etc, centralnic is the one you can trust.
