Some registrars set the administrative contact email (but also other infos) for .org or .info to a different one if you look at internic whois, such as "[email protected]" for .org, or, as for dotster, "[email protected]" for .info. You must go to the registrar site to see real infos.

Now I'm trying to transfer a .info name from dotster to godaddy. I started the process from Godaddy and they emailed me that they wrote to "[email protected]" for authorization (I'll see what will happen since I can't understand how Godaddy can know my correct infos if internic whois infos contains only dotster ones).

more generally, is it a problem to transfer away names whose internic whois have those email addresses and other infos different from the ones you find inside a registrar whois? are some actions required before starting the transfer? Is it required to let correct infos appear at internic whois level?

Thanks, in advance.
