Received an email today concerning LocalYokel.com. Would appreciate input as to the value for an end user. I have a number in mind, just don't want to sell myself short. Thanks

OK Latest news- The offer is $400 US. Near where I thought. Am I being greedy?

First time I heard that expression... Almost 20K results on google, 7K in quotes for "local yokel"...

If it's for the domain only, $XXX (around 500) seems like a fair number

Is that the FIRST OFFER? Come back with something higher, and plan to land in between.

IMHO it's not so great a name, so $400 would be more than fair if that were the whole story, but it's not. Know your customer - find out what they plan to do with it... if they are the next yahoo, then you're being taken.

The hyphenated version is a pretty ghetto site about Lake Powell, AZ. If they're the buyer, I can see how 400 might be the upper limit.

But there appear to be dozens of businesses and even some newspaper columns by that name that might be interested.

Short answer: no you're not being too greedy

Best of luck, and let us know how it ends up.
