The current .UK transfer process is unusual compared with most extensions: the registrant changes the registrar TAG rather than passing an auth code to the gaining registrar.

Nominet has confirmed that .UK will move to Transfer Authorisation Codes in February 2027.

For those who have used both approaches, which one gives the domain owner more control with less friction?
