Hi all,

I'd like to know if it's better to buy the .net and .org extension when we have the .com. Is it a good sale strategy to have the 3 extension or it doesn't matter?

It all depends on the quality of the domain. And if you can afford to keep paying renewals for all the 3 domains.

It is not a sales strategy more an elimination of a competition strategy.

Secure the variations if you are going to use the main domain and build a brand. For resale, there is little upside but additional renewal fees.

If it was a killer name, I think I would grab the big extensions.

I used to often get the .net/info/biz etc for sites I was developing to prevent the competition getting them but my thoughts have changed on that. If you've got the .com, it might be beneficial to let someone else develop a site on one of the lesser extensions. Suppose their site became a big hit...who's sitting with the .com...*you* are!!

I'm in the UK. Usually the .com and .co.uk versions interest me the most.

If you are talking about hand registering domains, I think that it's not worth to register .com when .net and .org are available for registration.
