I recently purchased a few small but succesful companies names, these guys bought the .co.uk but not com's. I
guess my question is, is this legal? Granted it might not be ethical?

Also in terms of .co.uk i cant use whois with these domains, is there an alternative?

legal probably. Ethical no. There are a million ways to make legitimate money in this business so why stain your hands.

Everything you do is recorded for posterity on the net. Would you like your parents, wife, kids or relatives or friends reading about it when someone comes after you sooner or later?

Even business associates can chose to go elsewhere if they think your business ethics cross the line.
