Is it unwise to buy a DN that is already a trademark? I often wonder that lets say a huge company overlooks a .tv or .us what do they do? Just issue a S&d and you lose?

That's very much a "that depends" sort of question. Is it a word that has meanings other than the trademarked sense, and do you have a site in mind that is based on such meanings? Do you plan on setting up a fan site, criticism site, or parody site that might have a free-speech defense if challenged by the trademark owner? Or are you just trying to exploit the similarity of the name to a famous trademark in order to get typein or search engine traffic? The answers to those questions will have a big effect on the likely outcome.
