Is there any way to restore domains from pending delete mode?

I have a name I really need to renew but it has gone into pending delete. Am I completely out of luck? Searching google I can across a couple of faqs from registrars that said if the domain is in pending delete to email them to renew it. However, I have also been told that once the domain is in pending delete, the registrar no longer has access to the domain.

Did you contact the registrar? Is it "pending delete" or "pending renewal or deletion" ?

If it's the former, I doubt you can do anything about it.

For .com/.net if the registry status is pending delete then there is nothing that you can do....you can check here: http://registrar.verisign-grs.com/whois/index.html

Check with the registrar anyway, what's the worst that will happen? You'll be no worse off than you are now.
