I've contacted someone about a name for sale and he replied with this:

These domains are getting around 1,000 unique visitors per month without having a site on them and without any marketing.

We don't have any public online stats, and they do not show on alexa because they are undeveloped.

Sure it's possible. Alexa is not a sure-fire indicator of traffic. In fact, nothing is. You can only make educated guesses. Just because a domain has no data at Alexa, no Overture searches, or no links doesn't mean it doesn't get traffic. Likewise, the opposite is true as well. Just because a domain has data at Alexa, Overture searches, or links doesn't necessarily mean it gets traffic. 1000 unique visitors per month is only around 32-36 unique visitors per day. It is common for domains with that little traffic to have no data at Alexa. There is no way to determine if his info is true unless you have the domain.
