I just aquired the domain name www.scvcs.com which was among the first 167 domain names registered.
What do you think the value of it is and your comments and feedback are appreciated on this one.
possible uses and would you sell or is this somethign to keep as a collectors item?

Also if anyone can help me out with a little more Whois history and find the exact date and number it was registered and by whom. I am pretty sure it was between #100 and #160 in mid 1987 and was registered by Santa Clara Valley Computer Sciences here in the Silicon valley California.

Definitely a long acronymn and only good to an end-user. It's either hit or miss, depending on if an end-user with those acronymn letters wants it. I'm actually shocked it was registered so early, how can you tell the order in which past domains were registered?

i have found it listed on several sites as being in the top 160. I believe looking at the whois before it dropped and saw Dec 1987. Anyone able to do a whois history?
Here is one of the lists from Dec 15th 1987. its in the first list of domains at the top.

Not worth much as a collectors item without the date being in the whois.... that sucks... did it drop once and was re-regged in 2005?

its like re-incarnation of the domain.

I am not sure.. i dont think so. Does anyone here know how to look up whois data history or could look that up for me. Maybe also find the exact date that it was first registered? I believe it was between Nov 30 and Dec 15 1987
but not sure when. anyone who might know would be much appreciated.

It was indeed registered back in 1987...

It wasn't one of the first 100...

BTW, Theo (Acroplex) provided me with those links a few months back so if you want to thank anyone, thank him.

Hehe, thanks Rob for the quote.

I registered Thalatta.com - one of the first 180 or so from late 1987 - a few years ago, on the same day that scvcs.com was taken up by a fellow domainer. Even though the names dropped and lost their original registration date, they are a piece of Internet history.

I can't put a value on the name but you most definitely can find someone to buy it for exactly their sentimental value.

That's some amazing history. I was only 6 years old back then. I wish I would have thought of registering back then :P

Back then registrations were following a strict process of approval, however they were completely free of any charge.

Domain names are not like fine wine. The born on date matters not.
