Key Word Search Statistics

I want to research some key word statistics on Google AdWords, as recommended by experienced domain folks. The tool is free, but it appears you have to set up an account and enter data (including billing) as if you are creating an ad campaign for your business. Is this indeed what you have to do to get access to the key word search tool? Any other way to get these statistics?

When it comes to having access to the Google Keyword Tool now known as the Keyword Planner
you simply need to create a FREE Adwords account. Go through the simple steps and enter all the information.

Do not worry they won't charge you anything. All you are doing is putting your information in.
Having access to the keyword tool will be free.

In case you still need some help signing up just search for some instructional step by step videos.
I am sure there are many out there.
