Sunrise has started..

I suspect you will see quality regitrations over quantity regitrations., due to the high cost of regs and the restrictions.
The actually rate of developed websites/per registrations will be high.

Most getting in this name space will be doing so for development would be my guess. ?

The key remains the fact that KIds.US has to be (part of the Bill) promoted to kids AND their parents within 30 days of registrations.

That's tens of millions of people that are overnight going to be "aware" of the Kids.US name space as well as the parent - .US

Looks like an exclusive club-- if you can get in..

I am preparing a list of questions for Neustar on Kids.US for a possible article.. if anyone has any questions that would like submitted please PM me within the next day or so...

Thanks for the update Bid.

It will be very interesting to see the take-up by the corporations, governments and institutions. Will they jump in lock, stock and barrell, or will they take a wait and see posture in light of the billions lost via dot com? My guess is that if Neustar does any amount of smart marketing that the acceptance level will be high. Let's just hope that Neustaer can manage it properly without too much of a learning curve.

This may be one of the last opportunities that domainers collectively have to reap the rewards of their speculation and business accumen when they regged all of their .US's.

I for one will be watching the developments very closely and hope to finally see some positive returns from my investments.

Dot com be gone!

This is the perfect use of .com and ccTlds IMO..

http://www.kellyservices.com/default.asp?cookie=off

use the "select a country" feature .

Kelly has regged al the major countries extensions (ccTLDs) then markets their services specifically to those markets.

.com isnt going anywhere, it's less about the fall of .com than it is about the rise of ccTLDs .

Kelly is marketing the extensions perfectly IMO, you may first check kelly.com when looking for a job in Ireland , but the next time , you'll simply go to http://Kelly.IE , or spain http://Kelly.es and if you are looking for work in the US.. Kelly.Us

It just time.thats all .. the trend is obvious.

.coms greastest strength is awareness, but that pool is not exclusive..with the KIds.US bill is the legislation that KIds.US MUST be promoted.. that parents and Kids must be educated on Kids.Us..awareness thats what is all about ..the type-ins will follow that awareness..(well at least for the top generic word/terms)

bidawinner,

I'm betting that .us domains in general will benefit from the kids.us publicity. Please ask neustar if they plan to promote kids.us domains and .us domains in general simultaneously.

If this takes off, then kid.us will become MUCH more valuable.
