actually it was loans.com that sold for 3 million to bank of america probably 4 + yrs ago

loan.com did change hands but the price was undisclosed.

I believe this was way over priced, IMO

refinance.com sold for 700K + in 2006 and would be a much better name from a development perspective...

Since this is my niche, I am however happy to see the values with finance names continue to rise:cheesy:

they will start to promote loan.com soon.
Then the typo will get a lot more traffic.

What a Whopper!

True it is a typo, but some typos have other meanings:

For Example:

# Laon is a city and commune of France, préfecture (capital) of the Aisne département. Population: 26,265.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laon

What a crazy way to see the New Year start off.

It will easily make $100k a year with PPC and probably more. They probably got it at a bargain.

Its a high paying keyword with very targeted traffic. Yeah, sure.

Could someone pls explain to me why such a high amount for this typo...I dont see the value in it as much as DaveZilla. I may be wrong but a more detail reasoning would be appreciated Dave. Thanks

Most stupid buying i ever see. For this amount they can probably buy loan.com

Not possible. This is still nuts. The buyer must believe PPC profits are here to stay for the next 25 years.

Smells fishy to me...or is my ex g/f just back in town?

He forwarded it to eloan.com affiliate. So not PPC
And there was another one, who belived in it and bidded $500k
So there is again something that i am missing

eloan affiliate prices:
$100 per funded Auto Loan
$110 per qualified Refinance Mortgage Application
$20 per qualified Subprime Mortgage Application
$70 per qualified Home Equity Mortgage Application
$20 per qualified Purchase Mortgage Application
$5 per qualified Pre-Approval/Referral Mortgage Application

So You sell 5000 funded Auto Loan`s and Your money is back.
If it gets maybe 200+ uniques daily, how much would he sell daily?
Lets say 5 sales a day. 1000 days, 3 years to get money back.
If they start developing and promoting loan.com ( like they say on theyre page) then laon.com will recive even more traffic.

what happens when loan.com wants this name...since it obviously won't be a portal about some obscure french town..do they have a case for WIPO?

Your estimated traffic and conversion rate is too high.

that is a possibility tbh Mocus!
scary thought for new owner of laon.com
he should have come on dnf & bought quality names for a fraction of that price. what do you reckon? ;)
Pred

yeah for 500k they could have bought me (and mocus.com of course) and I would run around and have people fill out mortgage and car loan applications all day.

It's a generic typo. I don't think that loan.com would have a case.
I don't think that loan.com even has a TM on loans. It's too generic and it's very complicated

LOL at least!
For $500k they could use the Pred as the 'human' coffeetable! LOL
No funny business mind! LOL
