I sold my last-name dot com to a family member but kept the email address. Then a few weeks ago I got an email from Afternic asking for a price for the name, and I figured, why not ask for a huge amount and see if they sell, I could always share it with my family. I put in 500000 as the price, and then asked the broker if there were any updates a few days later. He said it was too high a price. Not to me it isn't. It took me years to actually buy that name, and I wasn't about to give it away for next-to-nothing to a non-family-member.

Note, I also own the .org and surnameS.com like, "Surname's."

What are your thoughts on the price of a surname dot com?

Probably something you would want to keep for sentimental reasons if nothing else. Might be a problem if your surname (last name) was Ford! I registered my name charlessweeney.com in 1999. There wouldn't be a huge demand for it it, sales-wise but of course I didn't register it to sell it. I still use it for my email today.

I used to have the .net and I let it drop. I was homeless at the time and downsized my portfolio. Still, .com and org were kept.

I had JosephSlabaugh.com before. I had my nickname, deleted.com too. Wish I still did.
