I think they will be great for French speakers, it is correct spelling after all. I plan on regging some of my French .ca with correct accents to see how they do.

Same thing for me. I wish I had universite.ca, ete.ca, beaute.ca or gaspesie.ca

if only those who already own the .ca's without the accents can register the accent version i guess it doesn't offer much opportunity.

Um...it is French that is enroute, not Latin.

CIRA currently only offers .CA domain names in ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange), otherwise known as non-accented Latin-based script (a-z). However, CIRA will be implementing French Interntionalized Domain Names (IDNs) at the second level (to the left of the dot).

That is how it will work. For example I own obesite.ca, so I'll have the rights to all accented versions (which includes the correct one). I'll have to register it and it will create a second domain. Cost will be the same as a regular .ca. Looking forward to doing this and experimenting.
