For the last year there has been increasing interest in location-based games or locative games. Some examples include MyTown, Foursquare, Parallel Kingdom and Gowalla. MyTown alone boasts over 2million active users. Locative gaming is part of the new locative media revolution which some companies are paying attention to.
Booyah the company that developed MyTown just got $20mill funding and will be partnering with Google to gain access to its geodata. Hp Labs is working on developing an API that will give software developers the tools to build location based service applications (hpgleo.com). It's too early to say if location-based games will be the next big thing. But so far so good.
ALL offers welcome.
