Wow! That's a huge jump - largest one day # I've seen since I started watching this - TRIPLE the number of .INFO or .BIZ and far more than both combined!

shame you dont understand the importance of ccTLDs and the FACT they represent the single largest domain gowth of all extensions...

That world conquest is a personal approach, one on one not a one size fits all wear it or screw you approach.. ;)

I like the glocal TLDS but the vast majority of businesses in the US do not market worldwide. .US will work just great for them. I happen to have one business that does ship worldwide...but several other ideas that need to be aimed only at the U.S.

I'm a gTLD specialist, bid. If not, I would have a network of .tv by now. gTLDs are much much harder contested because the whole world bids for them. Then again, its really your business model. Posturing against a country or posturing against the world. It's a pesonal choice.

btw, .com.cn is going to be released soon. Get your engines ready. Cause mine won't.

"mole" thats a critter that lives underground ..right ?!

I like .info and .Biz obviosely..but I think your are missing the point on .US by a long shot..in 6 monmths you'll be a convert..probably because you wont have a lot of choice..

you'll see .US registrations continually out pace .BIZ and .INfO as it begins to "register" with people how important it is to have a .US address....

Guess the proof is in the pudding so to speak.. just keep watching ..

If I'm not mistaken, Mole is in the UK bid, do a .US wouldn't be of much interest to him. I know .co.uk is a good extension but not one for me as an American citizen.

Actually Duke thats precisely why .US SHOULD be of interest to him !

That is if "he" is a company doing business in the US..this is what the Asian companies with a US presence are doing..

As a "citizen" I would agree..but any company in the world that has a us presense will want a US extension.. this is already borne out with US companies buying .DE , .It etc .. domains...

Dell.DE
Intel.DE
Microsoft.DE

These are huge corporations..the arguement could be .. these companies dont need ccTKLDS ? why dont they just use .com, .net .info ? ;)

When you have that understanding then you understand why .US will be HUGE.. GLOBALLY ..

ccTlds are MUCH more important than .info, .Biz even .com.. thats the direction of the domain extension worldccTLDs not Gtlds ...

This is just my opinion of course .. I have been watching the ccTLD growth closely.. and the king of TLDs will clearly be .US not for just "us" but importance for global companies.

http://Sony.Us
http://mitsubishi.us

BMW.US etc.. this is what you'll see...these will be VERY important domains for these companies...

The WHOLE business world will "need" a .US presence.. they dont "need" a .info presence..

Your turn Mole..

bid i'm pretty sure they mostly reg those to protect their trademark. I doubt anyone will have to reg .us because they "won't have much choice".

KidKool..

you think Dell.DE is about "protecting: trademark ?

Dell.DE is about reaching a specific market.. worth hundreds of millions ... in a language they understand... German !

If I am in China and I need a website to reach my American market I am going to register .US and put it all in english...

:)

Very good points Bid. I overlooked the value of .US to domain buyers overseas. Make the potential value down the line look even better. :)

so are you going to go out and purchase posters.de posters.co.uk posters.cn? Why not just have a separate page on your site which is in a different language.

I agree with Duke's point of view that .us would be better suited for .us businesses which only do business locally.

By getting a gTLD you can cover all the territory globally if that is your goal.

The companies you are referring to have billions to throw around and lawyers to grab any cctld they like. Not worth it for anyone else as far as i'm concerned to go around and grab the ccTLD of every country.

"China is the biggest country in Asia with exports to the United States of $52.1 billion last year much of it from China's 15 million small & medium size companies. Because these companies have US customers, they are very interested in registering .US domain names. Projections for the number of Chinese companies desiring .US domain names approach 1 million. This number will grow as China enters the World Trade Organization and more Chinese companies begin doing business with the United States. "

actually Yes I am...

why not just have a seperate page..? so part of your web site is in english and the other part is in whatever... corporations dont work that way... each site is a "project" with specific needs for that specific market...

I already expained why one Gtld does NOT cover all the territory globally ..you are simply being stubborn ! ;)

Thats OK..I'm just presenting the way I see the domain markets heading...

you can disagree..that wont change it from happening..(Ok, I;m a little stubborn too ;)
