well, who knows when cc domains become good value.... everyone is still after the dot coms (.com)

Exactly. To actively seek for a .CC, and then to register one simply because it's available, or other higher-level extensions are taken, is a money losing proposition. IMHO. Good Luck.

I see no hope for .cc and the rest of the 3rd world nation country codes masquerading as global TLD's. With new official TLD's out (.info and .biz) and the US getting its own country code (.us) I think people will become much more knowledgeable about extensions. They will come to understand exactly what country codes are (as people in the UK, Germany and other countries already do) and they are not going to have any interest in using a country code from The Cocos Islands or Western Samoa.
The whole point of the country code is to tell surfers where you are based, so why would anyone want to make people think they are based in a 3rd world nation? Who would want to buy from such an entity?
Sure, today some surfers may not understand what .ws and .cc really mean - only that they look foreign to what they are used to. But in the near future I think that what these codes stand for will be common knowledge. These extensions already have no resale value so I can't imagine any scenario under which they would acquire value as people become even more knowledgeable about what they really represent.
