You posted a list of .asia domains that you asked if they were acquired in the Sunrise period, for example, porn.asia. All the information you need on these domains and more is available publicly.

First, if you query the public domain whois service (http://www.whois.asia/) you will find that the application for "porn.asia" was submitted in the Sunrise (SR2B to be precise). The DotAsia registry was responsible for accepting Sunrise applications and they engaged two independent verification agents to examine and validate all Sunrise applications.

Second, ALL closed auction information can be found here (http://dotasia.org/about/auctions_schedule/closed_auctions_May26_full.pdf). If you open this list and search for "porn.asia", you will not find it which means "porn.asia" did not go to auction. Pool.com does not make the decision of what .asia domains go to auction and which do not. The DotAsia Registry only sends domains to auction that have received more than one competitive application.

Given that porn.asia was applied for in SR2B and there were no auctions for it, it can be deduced that there was only one valid application validated during the Sunrise period for this domain.

I believe if you go through the rest of your list you will see they were all awarded during the Sunrise period with no auction meaning there was only one verified application.

There is one thing I don't get: a financial set-up like this comes at a price.
When you see that even sex.asia stands at a meager 17K - OK, the auction is not over yet - but is it really cost-effective to go to such lengths to grab names of limited value ?

Now I could see .asia being as valuable as .biz in 5 years, and that's an optimistic scenario

I believe he is saying there was no other valid sunrise application. The domains were not auctioned, they were registered during the sunrise period. Of course others would be intersted in a domain like porn.asia but they didn't submit to the sunrise application period with a valid application.

Thanks for posting that Rebel.com, I would have posted it as well. There are always two sides to the story and indeed the most relevent in this one is that neither I (Richard Schreier) nor Pool.com have ownership in Drake Ventures. There are often times when I wished I were a domain tycoon but alas I am not... :-(

And FYI mobiledesigner, we did not pick up any MOBI domains either. Unfortunately, we sometimes get stuck with domains that customers order and then when we get them they refuse to pay for them or they turn out to be fraudsters. We can't return them to the registry because all this usually happens after the add grace period, like within six months when chargebacks can occur. So we end up holding them for a year.

wow, that is just too weird- just one single valid application for porn.asia during sunrise.

I can understand how that may be hard to believe however it is important to note that neither the registry or pool were responsible for validating sunrise applications, validations were done by two independant firms. (Deloitte and AGIP -Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property)
