I wonder if the place mats match the centerpiece on the dinner tables in the clinq :)

What a waste of U.S. tax dollars.

poor her..

I had no clue she's 62 years old!!

I hope she doesn't catch a cold... it might be breezy in there.

Nah, couple of years in prison never killed anyone. She'll be back in no time. And look at the bright side too! Just imagine how many new "fans for life" (no pun intended) she will get in prison :-0

We should have a contest to see who can predict her sentence :)

All this over like 300k

I always thought insider trading was quite common.

At the time I thought it for around 40k. Whichever it was, it was chump change. The amount her stock got hit with in the following week dwarfed it many times. Now they're talking about the survival of her brand, and how they'll probably change the name... MSO, kind of like KFC. Martha's become the new "Fried" in undesireable corporate associations...

To be honest, I feel sorry for her. While not letting anyone else step forward to accept credit for products/advice, etc indicated a sizeable ego, she represented a powerful role model for women. Better not slip up Oprah. It's on you now...

On 20/20 they said it was 40K. It baffles me to why as she would do all this over 40k.

+++++++++++++++

It's called hubris.

It's being more important than other people.

It's thinking you are above the law, and can outsmart the law.

You all know she was a former stockbroker? That's one factor that makes it very flagrant.

She was once a billionaire. To pilfer $50k, she probably cost herself $1.0+ billion dollars, when all the dust settles.

What a 8itch!

Sorry, I could be wrong. I just meant, compared to the result and her cash (currently and at the time) it was ridiculous.

I don't think she planned on getting caught ;) Maybe she has done it before many times without getting caught?

Her kind of money/power is godly :)
Wonder if she's looking for a husband? :-D

What a 8itch!

I heard somewhere that she wasn't too nice.

according to NY Post, it's $228,000 worth of stock that she sold. Insider trading is probably common, but it's still illegal just like smoking pot--common but illegal.

The news said Martha has lost 30 Million since she was convicted due to the drop in MSO stock

Poor Martha, she broke the law and finally got busted, I dont feel bad for her one bit and hope they nail her good...
