Created on: 14-Jan-10 so it's 2 years old, not 16.

According to Archive.org's Wayback Machine:

http://Metrotron.com has been crawled 54 times going all the way back to December 28, 1996.

And it expired, dropped and re-registered in 2010. That's what matters with regards to its current age.

Look at the archive.org record.

I totally get the point you're trying to make. Don't get me wrong.

16 years ago, in 1995, there were many other names which could be registered, so I think that because it was first registered then, it does speak volumes about the quality of the name.

However, the fact that the domain has dropped and been recreated since hurts the value of the name. Not just in economic principle, but the SEO juice which one would ordinarily have attained with an aged domain is lost.

So, this is a good name for the keyword value, but there is certainly no benefit in age. And therefore, I think that to say that this domain is 16 years old is misleading.

I'm confident you made this statement in good faith, though.

Let's not argue over basic domaining stuff: the age of a domain is determined by the official WHOIS info. End of story.
