I belong to quite of few different affiliate programs and while checking sales

on a particular site I saw numbers that didn't "jive"

After 3 weeks their reply finally was

you are getting commission on the margin that we make on a

transaction.

example:

domain sale $60 domain cost $40 bottom line $20 commission $2 ??

Though on their site there is no mention of this just:

Domain Registrations/Transfers/Renewals - 10% (For all gTLD Pricing $7.95 and above)
Forwarding Services / Domain Privacy - 30%
Web Hosting and Email Solutions - 30% (For initial order only)
Domain Appraisals – 20%

Is this a normal practice ??

Very misleading - I wouldn't deal with a company like that. That is not the norm. All of the specifics should be laid out in advance. Percentage of "margin" is ridiculous.

and from their tech support

I checked his account and his commission is right on the money. Please tell him that he is getting commission on the margin that we make on a transaction and not on the total order placed by his referred customers.

What gets me is a sale like this

Transaction Total: $481.20
Total Paid: $481.20

And getting a $3.21 commission

If it is an in-house affiliate program, and you are generating significant sales, the percentage or terms could be negotiable. I've had success in the past with some smaller sites at renegotiating the terms based upon the amount of sales I produced for them.

$3 for a $500 sale is terrible. Are they really saying they only made $32.10 in margin on $500? You should find a different program.

There is nothing misleading here. The commission is of margin, not of the total of course. That is how affiliate programs work James and I told you that in several emails. Also, purchasing prepaid funds does not earn commission until the person checks out and buys a product that is commissionable.

No one is taking your money, stealing it and we certainly are not holding it. In addition, you are not supposed to earn affiliate commissions on your own purchases....yet you seem to have done that for some time.

I thought we addressed this some time ago.

thanks

Sorry Monte but Idotz and dotster pays commission on the sale total..thats how their affiliate programs works

Also, purchasing prepaid funds does not earn commission until the person checks out and buys a product that is commissionable.

So I'll earn a commisson on all those prepaid "sales" in my account when they get used GREAT !!

I've spent thousands of dollars with moniker and even if a few got credited

through my affiliate account it was probably because I was working on some

sites..And if not i see nothing in your affiliate program rules that precludes

me from doing so..If there was intent I would use my affiliate links for all transactions

note: one $50 payment is the only payment ever received from monikers affiliate program..which went right into my moniker account and was used for renewals

I thought we addressed this some time ago.

thanks

no you said
I said I would look into it

anything else to be addressed ??

jim

BTW can anyone from moniker explain the 2 different figues given in my example ?

Maybe I'm stupid but why do my commissions for these say $0 ??

These were prepaid funds that were used so I should be getting a commision on these sales...another answer I'd like to see as my affiliate links were taken down..perhaps time to turn it over to "someone else" and have the *** audit these transactions along with the snapnames transactions..

jim

heres my idotz one sale transaction

Thats 15% of the total sale...not "margin" as you stated ... and again ..dotster the same as the rest..why are your "terms" different than the others??perhaps you should state this in your terms of service.. "thousands $$$$ of sales/prefunding and 1 $50 payment..duhhhh....:nono:

As far as I know have never receieved any commissions from their affiliate program and I have had a number of their links on my websites for several years in well placed obvious page locations which should get a fair number of clicks.

All I can say is what's already documented..

I see no reason to use their program just based on the "margin" factor.

My primary direction are CCTLDs. which now I am using idotz.net at

shareasale.com 15% of the total sale and dotster.com at cj.com with a tier

program 10.00% equal to or greater than $51.00 USD increase commission

to 15.00% per action equal to or greater than $101.00 USD increase

commission to 20.00% per action. Again on the total sales..not margin.

There is also none of this prefunding crap that you don't see commisions on

and nobody at moniker will/can explain exactly what these numbers mean
