Congrats, Monte! Competition may be fierce, but keep at 'em!

Maybe getting bigger, but hardly the best! Transferring drops out of there is a nightmare. How a domain trader can operate from an outfit like that is beyond me! My preferred registrar is domainsite.com. The only other registrar I would considered and I must have looked at them all this year trying to consolidate my portfolio is directi.com.

Dave - perhaps you are not familiar with our high security measures for domain protection? Trading and selling domains is very easy at moniker as all you have to do is create an account or have the new owner create an account at Moniker and simply push the domain to them. It takes seconds to complete.

Transferring domains away is a whole other action which requires authenticity and propoer authorization so that we can protect your assets from being hijacked. For example since the new ICANN transfer out policy, we have now prevented 132 theft attempts on domains that were left unlocked or called for by other registrants/registrars without the current registrants authority.

There is a very simple process to follow to help us authenticate this for you. Admin Edit (paragraph edited) // Congrats Monte, but please do not promote the service in Domain News. Thanks

I also don`t see why you people complain, that good if there is so high security, I can sleep better, when my domains are in moniker.

Monte, this milestone is all about taking the high road. Every one of us has two sides: the one focussed on business as in: "winning at all cost" and the one that understands business and winning in business is about "give and take" (even when that doesn't always work to your immediate advantage).

Great job on achieving this milestone. IMO you and your crew (great crew BTW) got here by learning that latter part relating to "give and take" (although that may not have been your first instinct). Here's to hoping you don't forget what got you here as you reach for the next echelon.

I have heard complaints outbout your outbound policy. You can dress it up in the forums as you like but the reality is what it is and we all feel it.
I respect the challenges in running a rar (cant please all the people all the time) and the enterprise you have built.

Just be mindful of the fact that ultimately you will not win by holding names in with overly restrictive transfer rules. VGRS/ICANN allow for $1500 per name in fines (to the registrar) for unauthorized transfers.. So there is no need to hold my transfers in by selling me protection I don't need when I can call the cops at VGRS to level some juice in the form of fines to the offending rar.

Hi Monte,

This week i actually tried to transfer a domain from Moniker to eNom.. i unlocked the domain from your admin section and then submitted the transfer etc.. I was annoyed to find that the transfers were denied by you guys.

I understand security is in place to protect us owners and thats great.. however no attempt was made to verify whether or not i was trying to transfer the domains names by moniker?..No eMail to the admin contact or whatever.. I received my eNom auth request i approved that.. then i waited and waited.. and then the only other contact regarding the transfer was again from eNom saying:

********.com Canceled - The current registrar has rejected transfer (please contact them for details)
********.com Canceled - The current registrar has rejected transfer (please contact them for details)

What do i have to do to transfer these names?.. I have no problem with your registar everything looks great.. i just prefer Fabulous and eNom because i get great rates there and its where the rest of my portfolio is.. i hate having names all over the place because then its easy to loose track of them.

Could you please PM me your solution for getting my transfer approved?..

Thanks!

++++++++++++++++++

Directi? What a joke! I would NEVER trust a registrar in India to handle my portfolio. I wouldn't sleep at night.

Moniker wouldn't be growing if it were substandard.

Moniker is good, very good.

I have ALL of my 14,000 domains at Moniker.

OK - let me address multiple responses. I know that we will not please everyone all the time. I hope and know that we do please the majority of customers we work with. Our rules are strict...but they have to be to prevent theft. The proper procedure to follow is to just email from the admin email on the domain prior to the transfer request. We have multiple systems in the back end to verify you are who you say you are. That would allow your domains to go anywhere if you authorized it.

Yes you will get a message from either I or one of my team to retain your business but that is just our effort to retain you. We do not hold your domain hostage!

Change of ownership can be completed right at Moniker behind the security then the new owner can transfer out if they please by following the same practices. Yes you can transfer out if you change ownership as well...its just better and more secure.

I spend my personal time on this forum and others in an effort to learn from all of you to give you the best service I can. I know there is some clear objections to the way we handle some issues, however, any domainer who has a valuable inventory appreciates this level of security....especially the inventory that just sold for $162M. They have had their domains here for 4 years....anyone wonder why?

If anyone is having any problems or issues, just email me or one of my team. I can assure you that we will address your issues in a timely manner.

We also offer preferred rates for everyone on this forum. Do not go by what our web site says to the general public. You all are considered preferred customers and we will take care of you in and effort to earn your business!

Just answer this, is there not one CEO that is on this forum that addresses these issues as I do? How do you measure service, quality, integrity, response time? does your Registrar provide you with personal attention to your needs? If they do, great. I know that we do and that makes us pretty unique in the internet world.

I like you but please this security issue is getting a bit old.
You keep repeating it over and over. You say you are secure and that is fine.
But how secure you are can be seen by how many domain have been stolen from you.
I don't think anyone has stats from all registrars.

dvdrip - zero, 0, none, no names have ever been stolen from us. we take care of more than 1M of them and not one has ever been stolen. Ask anyone on any forum.

That is my point.

Ok. Point taken long time ago.

The thing is that you don't know what the other 100+ registrars are doing.

eg I bet markmonitor is very safe.

When you say "We are the most secure", you have to compare to something.
0 is hard to compare to but a few other registrars can have the same track record.

dvdrip - yes we do know what the others are doing. We receive the transfer out requests from those registrars every day. Every major registrar except Moniker has had domain theft issues. Not once but several issues...many on a daily basis. This is a very bad problem in our industry.

I am on the phone daily with Corporate affairs officers and attorneys about names taken from other registrars...whether by accident or by intent so I do have first hand knowledge of this problem and how to prevent it.

I hope that helps answer your question.
