Hello everyone!

I spotted some days ago a .COM domain which was registered by someone at Moniker.
Anyway, because it was already at Pending Delete -status there, it was going
to Snapnames.

Because the domain is truly not worth 69$ but I still wanted it for my personal
uses I was thinking not to make any bid. And that's what happened.

So because there were not bids the auction never started at Snapnames.
The domain has been deleted from Moniker's database. BUT it is still found
from the top registry.

My question is, will this domain also drop from there at some point soon because
no one did anything to renew or catch it? Or is it really going to stay
registered till 2013 July, which seems to be the current time of expiration?

All depends. If it truly expired and no one else bid or it was not renewed, then it should drop about 1 - 1.5 months afterwards. It does not delete right away. However if its at all recognizable and important enough for you to make a post about, you should probably put a backorder in. Otherwise there's a good chance it will end up in the Andrew Reberry / HugeDomains hoard. Best of luck.

You had an opportunity to bid on it as prerelease, but if it received no bids it's going to enter redemption (30 days) then pending-delete (5 days) and ultimately drop.
2013 is because the domain is still in autorenew at registry level.

But there is no guarantee you will be able to register the domain when it drops.
A prerelease bid is more expensive but you are almost guaranteed to get the domain, unless it's renewed or somebody else outbids you. Because at this point the registrar is still in control. When the domain drops the registrar no longer is in control.
You can still place a backorder with Snapnames and other dropcatchers, but again no guarantee that either will succeed at catching the domain.

Thanks a lot NameYourself and katherine for your hints! This was exactly the information I was looking
for because in the beginning I was thinking that it would drop immediately if no one wanted it at Snapnames
but what you told me, explains clearly why it didn't.

I could of course backorder it still. But I need to think about it. This domain is not even an English word/words,
so I highly doubt if there would be many people wanting it. Of course I could be wrong and every Finnish
person wants it. Lets see how it goes. (But I'm not going to feel bad if someone else catches it.)

Again, big thanks for the help!

If it's a domain you want, you should have paid the $69...

How do you know someone wont backorder it at another drop catcher like Pool? or maybe Buydomains will grab it, then it's too late.

I've been in this same situation with domains I think would appeal to only me, just to lose it later when it drops.

(But I'm not going to feel bad if someone else catches it.)

But look on the bright side, you saved $69

Raider: yes you're right, I don't know if someone else will backorder it. And I am aware of this
risk, thanks for the reminding though. If I really needed/wanted the domain, I would
have of course already place an order when it was about to get on auction at Snapnames.
However I did nothing. I was thinking that maybe if someone else really wanted it badly,
they would have already "attacked" on that moment.

Why I started a thread of this matter was because I was curious to learn how this process
with Moniker, Snapnames and after that goes. Just in case if I get to this same situation
later with a domain I really want. And I achieved that goal because I got good information
from here, something I couldn't find with my usual friend, Google.
