There's another post regarding TBR process. It got me thinking about how successful some of the big companies actually are with TBR. This weeks drop was not loaded with premium names but here's this weeks results.

The TBR process in theory is that domains drop, people request them from different .ca registrar companies and every registrar can request those domains at 2:00pm on Wednesday. Each company is limited BUT what some companies have done is they created a system where they have numerous registrars hitting the system at 2:00pm. They increase their chances of getting the domains and auctioning them off to the highest bidder. Great business model.

So does it work and is it worth it for these companies? You decide.

Here's a breakdown of the top 25 domains from Dec.9th. The information is taken from Sibername.com excellent RECENT RESULTS information which is posted on their website. From a technical standpoint its extremely interesting to see how fast these domains disappear at 2:00pm. The results page shows the fraction of seconds between domains. I left it in for the first three domains.

You only need to nab and auction a few good domains per year to pay your fees so yeah, it's worth it.

While developing our system I was able during testing to get into the system at 2:00.00X in the thousands of a second. Where it gets difficult is when you have 100 other connections going at the system and it causes a backlog. To think of it in the term of trying to be first in line to get tickets for an event, you know the event opens at 2pm but you have no idea when people will start showing up to wait in line.

This is why companies that have xx connections really benefit because they can space their connections over a given timeline, and start them at intervals. Thus covering a greater range of success.
