Surpassing the previous expectations and delivering a swift blow to the face of all XYZ haters, the gTLD designed to materialize the dreams and aspirations of X, Y, Z generations is completely rocking it.

.XYZ has crossed 1 billion domain name registrations, a satirical report by DomainGang

They even went on to say that these people are giving away developed .XYZ names for free!!
I think this article is a must read.

Read how .XYZ is on a course to assign a domain name to every human being on the planet.

However, the stats on ntldstats say otherwise. It shows only 530,241 registrations for the extension.

DomainGang is (mostly) a satire... What world do you live on?

You have to consider the source site as Shane suggested and the arrogance of the .xyz registry in its plans to "dominate" the tlds. Given your stats (and the fact they also seem to be sneaking .xyz domains into accounts at Network Solutions from some reports), their numbers are not stellar at all.

DomainGang isn't "mostly" a satire.

I would say that 75% of articles reflect real industry news these days, with the rest being tongue in cheek variations of domain & social media events.

But it's funny seeing how a staff member was tricked by a parody article. :D
