Fred Rogers of 'Mr. Rogers Neighborhood' passed away this morning. He had been fighting Cancer - and lost the battle just a few hours ago. His show had been on TV for 32 years - and generations of children grew up watching him including myself.

The guy was an institution for American kids. I remember sitting in front of the tv with my mom and brother watching the show - and singing the song....."Won't You Be My Neighbor?".

We often made fun of him as adults - but we were all shaped & influenced by him as kids.

Rest In Peace Mr. Rogers. Thanks for the memories.

This makes me very sad. I grew up on him. I am 34, so I was there pretty much at the beginning.

He was a fantastic human being as well as an institution in children's programming.

RIP Mr. Rodgers. I will always remember King Friday XIII.

Interestingly enough, when I was in college, his brother (or maybe it was cousin) taught a class that I took. They both had the same demeanor and looked pretty much like each other.

When I heard he quit doing his television show last year, I was surprised. I thought the show had been in reruns for 10 years! Nope! This man was dedicated!

I am very glad to hear that US generation of 30's-40's yo have
had some normal TV influence during its childhood.
Looking at today's kid's TV "educations", bought even here in Europe, the minimum I can say is being terrified.
Today's average kid would gladly kill and mame Kermit from Muppet Show or put Elmo (Sezamestreet) in a soup after bombing him.
I wish more people like Mr. Rogers could raise their voices today.
