disagreed.

It is good info.

Thanks for this forum DCG :) Finally, a place for domainers with foresight to hang out :)

It's good to now see some respect finally given the new extensions. After all, the returns on investment for a lot of these names has outpaced the cost / return multiples for a lot of the .coms over the last year.

OK.

New extensions:

.Info
.Biz

and the country codes of The United States and China which are:

.US
.CN

There is also .pro and .kids.us.

.EU is looming on the horizon as well as whatever ICANN will create in the future.

Good point. I think the administration should try and only keep the most important forums. Security is an important issue, but I think a focus must be maintained. Maybe add "security" to the read only news forum, as say a subforum. Otherwise its just so many forums to browse. I say keep it short and sweet.

A statement from Neustar on the new extensions :-D

Internet Registry Services
Just as the "dot-com" world has become oversaturated with an abundance of non-commercial (and less-than-useful) Web addresses, NeuStar (and its NeuLevel subsidiary) has begun offering a variety of revolutionary, highly practical domains targeted at specific segments of the online world.

.us, kids.us, .biz and .cn bring a sharpened focus to the Internet, allowing
businesses and consumers to establish an intelligent online presence and engage in more impactful Web-based communications. NeuStar's suite of Registry offerings enables consumers to acquire exactly the domain names they want, and our technologically superior Registry operates in real-time; changes made to websites can be "live" in minutes.

All domains administered by NeuStar and NeuLevel have been awarded by either government entities or industry bodies through competitive procurements.

Services Offered
.us
As "America's Internet Address," .us is the official country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the United States. Our technology enhancements to .us will enable United States citizens and residents—as well as businesses, organizations and government entities—to establish a unique, short and memorable American address on the Internet (e.g., johnsmith.us, publicservice.us, mycompany.us).

kids.us
kids.us is the Internet domain that parents—and children under 13—can trust for appropriate online activity. It's the first and only "youth-friendly" Web space to be established by the United States government, and it features advanced technical, policy and operational mechanisms that keep young people informed, entertained and protected online.

.biz
Unlike other TLDs, .biz is strictly for business. With .biz, companies of every size can confidently move their mission-critical applications to the Internet. Built-in security features ensure greater "peace of mind" online. A more advanced infrastructure technology platform facilitates more secure transactions on a global basis. And a robust network with less extraneous traffic allows for more efficient communications throughout. In short, .biz is simply a better and smarter business address.

.cn
China's exploding online population, coupled with its recent accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), has presented Web-savvy businesses with an unprecedented opportunity for success and growth. With .cn, businesses and organizations worldwide can now gain a foothold in the rapidly modernizing Chinese marketplace.
