It would be nice if there is a general domain name discussion forum (without moving to other threads like (gold forum) which is mostly for spiders and visitors.

I suppose I'm not seeing the point either. There is plenty of domain discussion

I mean there is no "general domain discussion" forum.

I agree, James. We need a (sub)forum dedicated strictly to domain discussions instead of general chatter.

discussions about what other forums have in comparision to we have, infringes on forum rules.

if there is something you would like to see added or subtracted, then state that without comparing this forum to any other specifically.

Thanks

Don, I think the suggestion made by James was not saying this or that forum is better, but rather that here on DNF we lack something that would be useful, much like it exists at (insert other forum here). Ever since the word "namepros" was removed from the forbidden wordlist, I think we can mention it as part of meaningful conversations.

the conversation was headed in the direction of comparison

which is why i edited it.

there are discussion sections in Exclusive forum which are not indexed and the point of the argument is mute, if other competitive forums discussions sections are indexed too.

I think he made a point about Guests and spiders in the sense that there is little of substance there with regard to domain conversations.

you got more from his statements than i did

if it had been interpreted in such a way as you suggest now, then perhaps the solution could be found quicker...or not.

substance has to do with who contributes and shares info that is not already known by those contributing or reading.

substance can be found in a title in that it may peak interest, but it must extend thru-out the thread.

and substance can be diluted by those who take subjects off topic or post without adding any meaningful dialogue.

imo...

Well, I'm sure James will explain it further tomorrow :D
But I see his point. The general chatter forum contains too much white noise unrelated to domains. Not that we don't have several themed forums already...

It seems clear to me, that he"s interested in an only domain discussion, since the GOLD, Platinum, Exclusive are all general conversation forums.

Seems legit to me.

Where would you like to see this forum section and who should have access to it?

I'm not the OP, but if you ask me, I think it should be gold, i.e., for everyone, and should be there as well. It would differentiate between general discussion, to domain specific discussion.

General Domaining "only"

Then in the rules, specify discussions dealing directly with domains only.

There are a lot of subsections and I would agree that DNF is too fragmented.

I think every registered members should be able to get access to it.

You may place it above or below "Domain News".

I would be nice to see "General Domain Discussion" forum rather than many domain related threads moved to "Gold Forum" where it is mixed with sports, politics and lots of junks where I find mostly visitors or spiders surfing through.
