For Sale newbie question. how valuable are links

Hi guys,

I am new to this and had a couple of questions. How much do links increase the value of an expired domain? I have access to an expired domain with 40k+ links how valuable is this? Also I would like to know the perceived value of carsbuyersguide.com with links in yahoo.

It's not the links themselves that are valuable, it's the traffic those links create. The best thing to do with such a domain is to develop it and build it's traffic - getting links is only one way of doing this. 40K links is impressive but it's quality rather than quantity that counts. The links show up on alltheweb as 23k. all the web frequently gives incorrect results for hyphenated domains.
best check the individual sites shown as links partners and see if the domain is actually linked.

I checked a couple and neither showed the domain.

alexa shows a 3,639,574 ranking for the domain, so it certainly was not all that popular...
