Cisco Buys Hammerhead, Navarro in Deals Worth $258M
SAN JOSE, CALIF. -- In its first M&A deals of the year, Cisco Systems announced the acquisition of Hammerhead Networks, a Billerica, Mass.-based developer of software for the delivery of multiple IP service features, and Navarro Networks, a network processor developer based in Plano, Texas, in stock swaps with a combined value of $258 million. Google flexes muscles with AOL search deal

Google, the grass-roots Web search engine that has endeared millions of Web surfers, is turning into a serious threat for entrenched Internet companies.

Sparking a brouhaha for dominance in Internet searches, Google on Wednesday edged out established players for AOL's search business. It's the latest win for Google, which, through word of mouth, gets more visitors than eBay and Amazon.
