I've decided that if I am still with the same company *and* we have no big travel plans I am going to take two consecutive weeks off.

I do have the time (heck, I took this past week off because I have a lot of time). Do you think my boss would go for it?

If you have the leave than why do you need your bosses permission? People take two week vacations all the time and I would think you would be able to also as long as you gave them enough time in advance.
