Disclosure: I'm the founder of NameStation (namestation.com), so I've run a lot of these. They work with any AI that can check availability: our MCP connector, another tool, or just pasting results into a bulk checker.
1. Funding-news sweep
"Here are this week's 15 funded startups and their categories. For each category, give 10 available .coms, brandable, ≤10 letters, no drug or bank names."
Hit rate for me: about 1 reg-worthy name per 50.
2. Pattern cloning
"[Name].com sold for $X on NameBio. Give me 30 available .coms with the same structure and feel, in [niche]."
This is the best prompt of the five, because the pattern already has a buyer.
3. Taken-name pivot
"The .com for [idea] is taken. Show me its asking price if it's for sale, then 20 available alternatives that a buyer of it would also consider."
This works as end-user outbound research too.
4. Extension decision
"Check [name] across .com .ai .io .co .net, with prices." Use it before you pay $70+/yr for an .ai.
5. Kill list
"Screen these 20 names for trademark conflicts, awkward second readings and spelling ambiguity. Be harsh."
Let the AI be the critic, not the picker.
A live example from this morning, all available when posted:
- Telehealth: DoseSpring.com, GLPStride.com, VeloDose.com
- Fintech: Bancello.com, SettleWisp.com
- Agents: AgentWisp.com, ClaimPilotry.com
My honest picks are DoseSpring and Bancello. The rest are pleasant, but the buyer pools are thin.
