Good keywords - way too hard to type-in. A name begging for heavy SEO. If you are building a site on this why not buy ots.ca when it becomes available? The site looks dead and the expiry is 2006/11/05.

oc ther .ca wasn't available, unfortunately. I picked it up for the keywords though, because a huge amount of people search for this, and certainly many Canadians do (spoke to two oc therapists this past week myself).
I can see the SEO getting a site based there great traffic, like you said. Thanks also for the tipoff on the expiry date.

But in raw, undeveloped value, what is occupationaltherapyschool.ca worth?

Too long, too hard... little type in traffic. And the plural is still available. Try to focus on natural one - two word domains that have high industry/sex appeal.

And the plural is still available.

I keep getting told you want the singular if anything. You're suggesting now I'd also need the plural? Do people buy domains by groups like that?

Incidentally, has anyone had success directly approaching people for whom the domain would be relevant (e.g. in this case, canadian occupational therapy schools?)

Plurals work better for some domains than others. Think about the market - in this case schools brings you a broader audience than does just the singular school. Unless of course you run such a school then you would have little need for the plural.

As for finding end users - that takes time and effort and most of all a big heaping of sales skills. Then again if you are sitting on a gold-star name, it will sell itself.

Thanks for the pointers WB. Any advice on approaching people with a solicitation like that?

Anyways, what is the domain itself worth?

Yeah in this case, the plural form would be better to perhaps develop as a portal for such schools. But an individual school wouldn't be using this name as their web presence... like everyone else suggested, it's simply too long, and they'd likely have a unique name anyways.

If you're getting any traffic/ppc revenue, you might be able to get $xx for it...

Exactly:

In general plurals attract more type in traffic than the singular although you will find exceptions. But as pointed out any school would use the domain that matched their name. Therefore the value would come in building a directory site for schools of this nature. Therefore the plural has more value.

But overall it isn't a natural (Think Simple) thought process to arrive at the domain you are looking at. I would try therapy or occupational therapy first and look for the schools I know would be advertising there. The longer the domain is the more specific the leads (clicks) become and the more likely to convert. But that is at the cost of traffic. They just won't get much. If that one got 1-2 clicks a month I'd be surprised.

Unless you buy the plural and develop it I'd have a hard time even valuing the singular domain at reg price.

JMO

PS the term only shows 1300 searches for it at overture with bids around $1. Not hard to find something that does a LOT better.
