once asset.cc was available, before many cc's dropped; and I didn't bother registering it.

any others with a comment on this .cc?

Too bad you didn't have your glasses on when you registered Optic (you might have noticed that .cc on the end) :)

.cc is just about worthless

Can someone please explain to me why? I mean why is it that the .cc and the .ws tld's are so unpopular? If they work just like a .com, .net, .org or any other extension, then why is their a reluctance to obtain a domain name with these extensions? Other than just saying they "suck" is their a valid reason why not to use them?

Thanks, Gary T

I just registered my first 2 .cc domains.

I wish they were another extension, but they are good one word domains with commercial appeal.

While I respect the comments given by dnf members above, I would not list them in the appraisal forum.

Having said that, I think you could do a lot better in the .cc domains you do register.

Stick to one word domains!

Lots of good ones available.

But don't just register them and hope for a quick sale.

You should put up a site and submit them to search engines.
(They don't care what extension they happen to be, they are "dot blind," to coin a phrase.)

I use addme.com and get many turning up in great spots on google, yahoo, uv.

I have 2 one word .cc and 1 four letter .cc

Lot.cc = Lot numbers, lottery numbers, realestate parcels.
Optic.cc = Electronics, eyeglasses, camera, photo...Ect.
eBet.cc = Gambling or 4 letter acronym.

I still want to know why? Why does .cc suck? Intelligent opinions only please! I just want to know why??????????

.cc is country code domain name. further more "cc" doesn't mean anything. i think the real player are unsponsored gtlds.

Yes, I believe it's the 'CoCos (Keeling) Islands, or something. Like the ".TV" (Tuvalu island) ... there is no REAL meaning to these country-code extensions! Just hype and greed. Mostly greed. Sorry.
Good Luck.

There is nothing wrong with .CC IF you live in the CoCos Islands and want to sell primarily to the residents there. Country code names are locators that tell people where you are based and who you consider your market to be. It is true that most of today's surfer's don't know what countries the various codes represent, but I think they do understand that it is something foreign (if it is not their own country). The real bias against .CC and the rest is that it has been proven that they have virtually no resale value - consequently there is no interest in them among domain dealers. There is nothing to stop you from developing a site on a .CC name, but the poor market will likely stop you from reselling it.

Okay, fair enough explanation.

Thanks.

I have optics.ws.

I need to abondon it?

Keep it! 2 letter Tld's of any top level will be valuable eventually. Be patient and check back in a year or two.

Why is that? :confused:

Answer to why is that. Because who wants to type in somename.xxxx, when you can type in somename.xx

or somename.xx.xx. No body will care about the coco's islands. or about western samoa.

People are looking for non-restricted and simple 2 digit extensions. Yes...it will take time for them to be fully accepted as valued Tld's, but if they work with high profile names just like a .com .net .org....who will care????? The internet is still in it's infancy. How many Tld's can we have that are short and memorable? If you can't remember .cc or .ws...you probably have A.D.D or A.D.H.D. there for, you should probably be on the drug Ritalin, or avoid avoid the internet all together. Nothing personal to anyone reading this. Just my opinion once again. Have a good time and don't be so critical on domain name issues.

Garyted -
What are you talking about?? Are you saying that, in time, .CC will become more memorable than .COM ... simply because of its length? And, if one can't remember .CC than they suffer from A.D.D.?? C'mon. Tell me this wasn't what your were stating.
You're beginning to give us other "Domain Whizzes" a bad rap! IMO. :)
Good Luck.
