What does it mean to pre-register a domain name?

It means that we will store your details in the OPENSRS database and as soon as the top level domain name is available to register, then we will attempt to register the domain name for you. You should note that pre-registering a domain name does not guarantee that you will get this domain name. What it does mean is that you will have the best chance possible of getting the domain name you require.

Does a pre-registration mean exclusive snap or not, if all the registrars will go after one name, then It's still a lottery isn't it ?
