I'm selling my proxy domain website. This domain was picked up via Snapnames in July and is currently registered at CompuGlobalHyperMega.com (a Snapnames reseller) until Jun 26, 2009. I'm selling because I have some large bills coming up due to an upcoming wedding!
The site is currently receiving an average of 15k unique visitors a month and is generating an average of $90 a month. The last few months have netted me approx $120. Monetization is only through 2 google link ads, one on the top of the page and one directly below the proxy URL search bar. The site is currently hosted on a dedicate burst.net server, and is running the free glype proxy script.
I have not put any promotion or much monetization into the site. I currently have a paid top slot on theproxi.com for $3 a month which makes up less than 2% of the traffic. The remainder of the traffic is from direct type-ins and from Google searches. Because the domain is a hyphenated domain, Google ignores the hyphens and treats the domain as "proxy.org". The site currently shows up in #3 slot in Google for "proxy.org" and nearly half the site traffic comes from that source. I have contacted Proxy.org for site ranking but was denied.
I have made a very simple site and have no ads on the proxified pages. The vast majority of the traffic is US traffic and the name "p-r-o-x-y" does not flag automatically on many network filtering services. Plus, it sticks out from many of the proxy topsite lists.
I believe someone with good proxy site experience and promotion techniques could create some good revenue from here. I have a few more proxy sites but this one seems to have a good mix of repeat visitors and US-based traffic.
Bidding starts at $200 but I'm not looking to let this go for too cheap, there's good money to be had on this one. I would prefer escrow payment if possible. This is a multi-forum auction so I may have additional bids not posted here.
