I am monitoring a domain and its status is PENDINGDELETE. When do you expect it to drop?

It should drop within 5 days - PENDINGDELETE means it can not be renewed either from what I read.
Don't mind the expiration date displayed in this case.

thanks for your replies. I just checked the domain name again and now I'm confused. It says this:

Status:CLIENT HOLD
Status:pENDING DELETE

So which one is true or can both be present simultaneously?

After client on hold, next is pending delete (5 days) .. monitor your domain in 5 days ... it should be ready for registration on 6th day.

If it says both CLIENT HOLD and PENDING DELETE then I'd imagine it's a .org yes? If so, I don't believe that they're working to the 5 day rule for PENDING DELETE domains. I'm aware of a number of .orgs that have had that status for weeks. AFAIK it's only .com and .net that will definitely drop 5 days after moving to PENDING DELETE.

Best wishes,
Simon.

yea, it's an org domain.
Well, I'm wondering how can that be? The expiring date is Jan 2004 but it has that PENDING DELETE status.

Ordinarily I'd say that it could be a failure to pay, chargeback on the registration, false information supplied etc. That would be a little on the late side since the original registration was in 1996 though....

OTOH there may have been a dispute involving the name, the expiry date could be listed incorrectly (gasp), or <insert plausible reason here>.

Hopefully PIR will eventually give some indication of how long they're going to keep .org names in PENDING DELETE status.

Best wishes,
Simon.
