Personal name domains for my kids... .org or .name?

I have 3 young kids, and as a domainer I thought it would probably be a good idea to grab their names (firstlast as one word) as domains so when they grow up they have a nice domain.

1) Is this a good idea?
2) Would a .org, .info, or .name be best? The .com and .net are already taken and I don't want to pay more than just a simple registration.

That's thoughtful... I'd say the .org is the most common after .net and .com.

I would do the .com with a hyphen between the first and last name if available.

I would search for some available .com's, and then rename the kids. If you do it quickly, it shouldn't be any worse than pulling off a band aid.

Love the idea Seraphim, I don't doubt that's too far off for some crazy domainer.

Get a price on the .coms and if in budget i would buy them.
Otherwise .org

so many possible variations. first inital last name, firstname last initial, full name,with dash. buy what you can.

Put the middle name in and get the .com

Oh, no.. they're probably registered already... But they would love it! :smilewinkgrin:

FirstNameLastName.com would be a good idea, having use of the domains for business purposes. Hopefully, when they are old enough, dot-coms will not have been replaced by something else!
