PGR3.com - Alexa rank of 612,954
PGRforums.com - Alexa rank of 346,622

Description:

PGR3.com is a Project Gotham Racing 3 fansite concerning the most popular Xbox 360 game. I am selling the entire site, as well as the forums at www.pgrforums.com. The PGR3.com domain name alone is highly valuable considering that PGR2.com was selling for $2000 recently at Sedo.

Along with that you are buying -
www.pgr3.net
www.pgrforum.net
www.projectgothamracingforum.com
www.projectgr3.com
All pointing to pgr3.com or pgrforums.com.

History :

I purchased this site from a sitepoint member some weeks ago, it is a great opportunity for someone who has the time to promote it, I have too many sites to run & so am reluctantly selling.
The domain PGR3.com has been registered since 2004, and last month the previous owner received the OK from Microsoft to run a fansite at the domain (PM me for a copy of the email). So he did just that and set up a fansite, which includes a unique, two-page review of PGR3.

With a little work at driving up traffic, you could be making quite a lot of money from ads, not to mention that you could have a huge PGR forum.
Please keep in mind that PGR3 was launched in November of 05 & that your target should be 100k members in 2 years - take a look at http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/ as an example of a well known game fansite forum!

I have done no advertising, so all the traffic is from type-ins (the official site is located at www.projectgothamracing3.com, so it's obvious why my fansite gets so many type-ins).
- The site is listed #4 of 837,000 in Google for "pgr3"
- There is a link to the site on the Bizzare Creations links page (http://www.bizarrecreations.com/bc/page.php?p=links)

The forums include the vBulletin Leased License, $30 template customized to fit the site nicely, 585 posts, 84 members. The forums are listed #3 & #4 of 757,000 in Google for "pgr forums". Alexa rank is 346,622.

www.ProjectGR3.com has a Google Pagerank of 5.

Starting Bid: $900

BIN: $1500

Is an auction?: Yes

I was informed by another member here, that MS told the previous owner that "no money could be made from the use of this site", as a condition to retain the domain.

Is this correct?

Please verify!

Thanks

Thank you for your question.
There is some confusion about that which I am discussing with some people.
It appears that the brand PGR3 is not, in fact, owned by MS & therefore the owner has rights to post advertising on pgr3.com.
You may note the disclaimer on the footer of all sites included in this auction. Please read.
There really is no huge issue here, except the sale of what should be a cracking fansite ;)

I have reduced the BIN to $1500 !

Any response to my last question at sitepoint?

"Can you post or PM me the agreement.
This question needs to be asked. There is no TM on PGR3 or PGR3.com so I don't understand why anyone asked permission to use it as a fan site.

Thanks very much.

John"

Thanks

Thank you John.
I am more interested in selling the websites than discussing trademark law here or elsewhere.
Are you interested in buying these sites? Yes or no?
There are no trademark infringements involved here whatsoever.
Ends.

Yes I am interested. I own a bunch of gaming websites/forums.
I have posts all over the place looking to buy gaming sites/forums.

With that said the reason I want to view the agreement which is mentioned in the sitepoint sale is so I can view the wording. I want to know exactly what MSN said. I dont want to buy it and then get a letter from MSN about anything. That would be bad to put it mildly.

Thanks

John

if you do a little search you can find this info yourself.... here's what Bizarre Online responded to Tom the original owner after having a small exchange with Microsoft....

Hi Tom,

I’ve followed this up with Microsoft (as they are the trademark owners for the Project Gotham Racing series) and they’ve given it the thumbs up as long as you comply with a few conditions – I’ve pasted their response below:

“Tom Hinks can build a PGR3 fan site provided he complies with the following 3 criteria:

1) Non-commercial = Tom can use the fan site strictly and only for not-for-profit purposes

2) Trademark reference = Tom should use the language below to reference that Project Gotham Racing is a trademark of Microsoft everywhere in his works.

"Project Gotham Racing is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft Corp. and Bizarre Creations have ownership of the names, logo, artwork, marks, photographs, sounds, audio, video and/or any proprietary material used in connection with the Project Gotham Racing trademark. Bizarre Creations and Microsoft Corp. do not endorse, and are not affiliated with (insert his name or the name of his company) in any official capacity whatsoever."

3) Link to PGR3’s official site = Tom should provide a prominent link to the official PGR3 site on his fan site.”

So there you are! Obviously we’d like a link to www.bizarreonline.net on there as well if you think it’ll be suitable ;-)

Good luck with the site, and we look forward to watching it develop from its great start!

All the best,

Sarah

Hmm..
Not sure if that was yours to post actually.
That is private correspondence between Tom (previous owner) & a rep of MS.
Also what is the - Warnings Level: 1 about?
I object to your post & I am sure so will Tom Hicks, who I am now informing.
Moderator please moderate.

(a) Since you bring it up my warning point is for this reason : http://www.dnforum.com/f5/5bg-com-100-buy-now-thread-132166.html read and see... so don't try to discredit me by stating BS
(b) Tom posted this at another forum it's PUBLIC info I'll provide link when time is right
(c) If you were HONEST about this you'd have disclosed this from the start i.e. biggest deal breaker domain should be NON-PROFIT
(d) Instead you chose to say that PGR3 is not a MS trademark?? You want to check with them?
(e) if you're not Tom (which I know you're not) and bought this and now regret why try and dump it like this and on top of that try to make an extra big profit??

I'm not the one with 12 posts, and certainly not the one being dishonest here.... so good luck

PS As for my interest, I'm trying to keep this a healthy community quite simple really and don't like people who try to deceive ;)

I bought this site for $1800 because it has a lot of potential.
However, I find that I do not have the time to promote it & am selling it at a starting bid of $900.
So who is trying to dump what. This is a fine site/s well worth what I paid for them but I am too busy, not that this is any of your business.
Your accusing me of what exactly?
And I caution you publicly.
Go about your own business & keep out of mine please

I'm accusing you of this very very very inaccurate statement which is PROVEN by the email I attached...

I'll also do you a favor and pretend I didn't see/read the "threatening" part of your last post...
